Purchased an e46 M3 convertible about a month ago. I put in about 800 miles and the car has been great to date. Has 52k now. I live in socal so we do get a lot of sunny days. To extend the longevity of the car, is it worth spending about 650 on an oil cooler, 500 on a radiator, and 250 on pulleys (plus labor). The BMW E46 M3 is a sports car BARGAIN. For under $30,000 you can get the IDEAL M3 and probably even make a little money on it in a few years! The E30 is too well, you guys gave me good food for thought with the rising prices. I already had my e46 m3 on a collector car policy, agreed value. I dont drive my 330cic other than for pleasure. i gave grundy a call and asked them to insure it for 12k agreed value. I didnt think they'd go for it but they did, without batting an eyelash. But a mile or two per gallon isn’t going to make a bit of difference. Of course, a new M3 makes 503 horsepower from 3 liters, so squeezing more horsepower out of a smaller engine indicates some progress has been made. But how much depends on what you value in your sports car. Features and comfort: 6. Holy seat. 1m is BY FAR the car i would choose. E46 is outdated interior and just plain slow, KBB says they are worth 15k and veryone wants 25k lol. Outdated to some is classic and timeless to others. The cockpit in the M3, 330i ZHP and even 1M are driver focused simple and brilliant. For a DD though, my 330ci ZSP was significantly cheaper than an M3, a good deal cheaper than a ZHP, and in the real world, it provides nearly all the driving fun while getting great gas mileage, being very low key, and with very little drawbacks. Again, the M3 is *significantly* better for driving hard. There's no comparison. The E92 M3 generation is something of great joy and great engine. 6 Reasons To Own An E46 M3.
